Join us for our next workshop: a socially-engaged painting workshop! Located in The Whitney at the UWT campus, we’ll spend time visualizing a personal or community experience with a social issue. This may include incidents of discrimination, ethnic cleansing, environmental racism, etc. After brainstorming imagery, metaphors, and emotions associated with each incident, we’ll use paint to capture the issue at hand. At the end of the workshop, everyone will have the opportunity to share their creation with the group.
We at Tahoma West seek to create a stronger sense of interconnectedness in this divisive time through representation and recognition of different perspectives and experiences. We do so through creating events for the UWT community where participants have the chance to recognize and explore their social experiences and share the emotions and meaning behind them.
